Not to make this even more awkward, but my Great Grandparents-the one that included my German Grandpa, were Nazi sympathizers and refused to let my grandpa enlist in the army. He was in a protected profession, farming, so he wouldn't have been drafted, but she was adamant about him not fighting because their relatives had written to them how life had gotten better under the Nazis.
I had several distant distant cousins that DID serve in the armed forces during WWII....for Germany.
I have an old letter from those relatives, who were living in Heidelberg, from 1934! I want to frame it, but I'd like a translation first!

It's very old timey writing with cursive. I think my sister's German ex-boyfriend tried to read it and had trouble.

I think you're right. But one part of the letter looks like I might be able to read something. Most of it is very difficult to even make out the letters, even though the penmanship is lovely.
