Falling back into love again.

With Ryan Adams. "Ashes and Fire" will be released on October 11 but the entire album has already been leaked. I tried to restrain myself from listening to the leak because I love the feeling of getting a new CD, fumbling to get the wrapping off and sticking it into the CD player in the car. Kept reading the reviews and everyone said that Ryan had gone back to form and this was his best release since "Jacksonville City Nights" (loved that one) so I wound up caving and I listened to the album. Love!

Tickets go on sale on Friday morning for the Winter Garden Theatre in Toronto. I already knew about the ticket sale but Keith printed out the show schedule and left it in front of my computer and basically screwed himself. I take that as a sign that he will go with me to the show. Can't take Jessie because she will be 8 months pregnant in December.

Re: Falling back into love again.

It looks like Ryan's wedding ring is a bit too tight. I like how he has to take it off before he plays because I do the same thing before I play the piano. That drives my teacher crazy because she is always afraid people will forget about their rings and leave them behind.

Ryan really seems to have his !@#$ together finally. He's been clean and sober for about 5 years, he hasn't done anything off the wall for about 2 & 1/2 years and he has even quit smoking. Never thought I would see the day for all of those things.

Mandy Moore must be good for him. He seems to have a sense of peace about him now. He has 2 dogs now and that most certainly contributes to his sense of peace as well.

The last time we had dinner with Ryan he told me "I want to get a dog, get married and have children and I want to do it in that exact order." It looks like he is achieving his goals. Good for you Ryan! He could be a total asshole sometimes but the true essence of Ryan is sweet and gentle and that is what always pulls me back to him.

It won't be easy to get tickets on Friday. The Winter Garden only holds about a thousand people. If I can't get tickets I will have to resort to paying scalper prices.

Keith is worried about taking the dogs with us to Toronto. That didn't go so well the last time. Hershey started barking his head off about an hour before we returned to the hotel. Hopefully Hershey has settled down a bit since then. He's been on a few other trips since then.

I would rather take the dogs with us. My pet sitter has never taken care of them before. I will still have to use her services because of the cats. I could leave the two crack-whore cats alone for a day or two because they will eat dry food. However, Stashu, my 17 year old cat (84 in human years!) will not eat the dry food.

A bit worried about the Hershstensenburger. He has been limping a lot for about 4 days. He seems to have some swelling and heat in his left front elbow and shoulder. I think it could be from doing this: Too much stress on his elbows and shoulders. There IS an easier way out of the pool but Hersh never takes that way.

Will be phoning my vet tomorrow to make an appointment. Keith is having a fit about Hershey's limping; he adores that dog. I may phone our breeder to ask for a recommendation for an orthopedic vet. I pay for health insurance for both dogs so I may as well take him to a specialist.

I am concerned about elbow dysplasia even though my breeder is stellar; she screens her dogs and she will not breed a dog with a known defect. The breeder of my 'spoiled dogs that think they are humans' (F you punchbuggy) has two dogs invited to the Eukanuba show in December. That show is by invitation only and they only invite the top 25 dogs in the entire country of each breed to participate. George and Theo are in the top 10 of English Springer Spaniels.

Kathy has raised the prices for her dogs now. I am hoping that I will not ever need to purchase another one but that is not due to the price of them. Reece will be 6 years old in March and I am hoping to have her for 8 more years. I just don't want to have to experience any more grief even though nothing would ever come close to the amount of grief I had and still have for Frankie. My practical joker who had the ability to read my mind.

Listening to "Ashes and Fire" over and over again and can't seem to STFU.

Ticketbastard blows. Tickets sold out at 10 am on the dot.

I feel like unleashing these monkeys at the head office of Ticketbastard. Especially the one with the knife!

Re: Falling back into love again.

Toronto sold out in 90 seconds. I started to panic when I saw a lot of tickets being snatched up on all of the ticket broker sites so I decided to purchase a pair before they were all gone. Only 900 some seats in that venue.

I was a good girl. I by-passed tickets in the first 3 rows (Keith would kill me if I paid $450 per ticket) and bought a pair in the first box that extends out from the balcony. This is what really kills me about purchasing from these sites. The tickets were $115 apiece which wasn't bad. Was it really necessary to charge me a handling fee of $28.50 per ticket? And 15 bucks more to send them? That's just plain rude.

Concerts out of town can be so expensive. Keith did not want to stay in a hotel with the dogs so I had to find a dog-friendly house/duplex to rent. We had been planning on staying 2 nights but they had a minimum stay of 3 nights. It's a really pretty place in Deer Park with a fenced bark yard though so I went for the 3 nights.

I/we have gotten spoiled by foregoing hotels in favor of rental houses. The cottage in Ireland was the first time I rented a home and I loved it. It's usually cheaper or the same as a hotel and you get so much more. I hate being confined to a small hotel room now.

I love to try different restaurants in Toronto when we are there because we don't have very many decent restaurants around here. We just have chains and a few so so restaurants.

It all adds up and pretty soon one concert winds up costing you around a thousand bucks or more. I am becoming a bit of a tight-wad in my old age and I really have to want something badly to fork over $$ for it. I have one driving goal and that is to pay off this house as soon as possible and to move to the beach in North Carolina. I want to do that within the next 3 to 5 years.

Really, really do want to see Ryan so it's worth forking over the money. I've been loving what I have been seeing and hearing.

I like the new album lots, especially that Dirty Rain song. Good for RA and good luck getting to a show.

Neil Finn, Janis Ian, Ryan Adams
Duration: 1 hour, 10 minutes

The final concert in this series of the songwriters' show sees Kiwi favourite Neil Finn joined on stage by American legend Janis Ian and alt-country poster boy Ryan Adams.

Finn genially guides proceedings, with songs that sound like old friends pulled from different phases in his career - Crowded House favourites Distant Sun and Don't Dream It's Over are mixed with Split Enz's She Will Have Her Way and Golden Child, a new song written with his wife Sharon about their kids flying the nest.

Janis Ian has been writing songs since she was 12 years old and on this evidence she is still at the top of her game. Her intelligent lyrics, by turns introspective and socially-engaged, are couched in lovely melodies and her guitar playing is a delight, from the jazzy Bright Lights and Promises to her evergreen classic At Seventeen.

Ryan Adams crouches over his distinctive striped guitar and delivers a series of exquisitely mournful songs, from debut solo album Heartbreaker's Oh My Sweet Carolina (helped by gorgeous harmonies from his compadres) to Invisible Riverside from his album Ashes and Fire.

Quickly-rehearsed collaborative moments bring new textures to familiar tunes, and there is banter aplenty between the three artists, resulting in some hugely enjoyable digressions, with surreal spontaneously created 'songs', the whole thing rounded off with an ensemble version of Finn's Weather with You.

seen a most if not all of this series it's been good if not great, maybe one of our more technically minded poster's could record it for you if you wanted ....
