I didn't know Zan was an electrician. I would be concerned about his back pain. He really needs to get a diagnosis; all of his symptoms could be related. And what the hell do we need to do to get our husbands to take time off?! Life is short and health can be fleeting. I talked to Keith's mother tonight and she said "Isn't there anything you can do to get Keith to take some time off?" I told her "I've talked to him until I am blue in the face. He only takes time off when something is booked and paid for." Keith went out with Paul for a drink about a week ago. Keith said Paul had a hard time not crying. I guess Paul has known his diagnosis for about 6 months but he didn't want to tell anyone because he was afraid of breaking down and crying. I can understand that to some extent (when Frankie died I e-mailed people at work and told them not to be nice to me when I came back to work....didn't matter, cried like a baby anyways) but if you don't tell people you don't get any support either. Paul said the doctors told him 2 to 5 years. The thing with ALS though, is that those will not be very good years. Horrible, horrible disease. Worse than cancer. I saw a neurologist last Monday and he has ordered a bunch of tests. I don't feel like whining about my health after talking about Paul. I don't have to look very far to find someone that is much worse off than I am. nondisclosed_email@example.com (barefoot girl)Fri, 02 Dec 2011 10:37:56 +0000 Re: Had a strange and very creepy incident at home this evening.https://btrampsandtrampettesrefugepart2.runboard.com/p209345,from=rss#post209345https://btrampsandtrampettesrefugepart2.runboard.com/p209345,from=rss#post209345quote:lordstanley09 wrote: quote:barefoot girl wrote: Maybe there is nothing in the plant itself and the illness's are due to Sarnia's posion spewing chemical plants across the river. And the foundry I worked in for a total of 16 months is literally a text case for environmental abuse and cover-up. Dozens of cases of stomach cancer, mesothelioma , and other causes of premature death. My father is one of the final surviving retirees. http://www.angelfire.com/my/HolmesFoundry/ I had a look at that web site. It's a good thing they closed that place down. It is quite horrible that the owners know/knew that they were exposing people to 50+ carcinogens and they have not provided adequate compensation. Of course there is no adequate compensation when you are robbed of your health. I hope you don't wind up with any problems from your stint at that place. Also, I am always puzzled and kind of shocked that Canada continues to allow the massive spewing of chemicals from all of those plants. I don't have a very keen sense of smell but I actually gag when I drive past one certain plant. I thought Canada would be more environmentally sensitive than the US. I tend to view Canada as being more altruistic than the US but that is not the case when it comes to the St. Clair River. We have reserved most of our river-front property for rich people's homes. The only river front plants that I aware of are Morton Salt (I don't think that is open any longer) and the Detroit Edison plant that is practically in my back yard. That place makes quite a racket sometimes but I can't really bite the hand that feeds me. My Dad had no problem doing that though. My mom used to be the industrial nurse at the Greenwood plant near our home when I was in my teens. The plant was about a mile or so away from our house. They had a very high tower that had lights spinning around it on some nights and the lights shone right into our downstairs bathroom. That would really piss my Dad off (especially if he had some drink in him) and he would phone the plant to say "Goddamnit! I can't even take a peaceful shit in my bathroom without you people intruding into my space!" He wouldn't have had the phone number if my mom had not worked there. Tripping down memory lane tonight. One thought leads to another and I am trying to remember how many times my Dad ripped the phone off of the wall and threw it into one of our fields. AT&T ruled the world back then and nearly every place was long distance. It was weird. We could phone Porch Urine (25 miles away) for free but someone that was only a mile or two away was long distance. Anyways, we used to get huge phone bills ($300 to $500) back then and nothing pissed my Dad off more than those phone bills. My mother used to ask us to watch the mail and remove the phone bill before my Dad could find it. I can recall telling her that it was a stupid plan and sooner or later she would have to fess up. She always told me that I was a very 'difficult' child. Well, hey ho, you aren't exactly June Cleaver either! The Greenwood plant was supposed to be a nuclear energy plant but that never happened. Once in awhile they will ask Keith to go work there for a a weekend, a few weeks or even a few months. He never passes that up because he makes a lot more money when he works out there. My mother loved her job at that plant. It was pretty much all men out there and she did her share of flirting and worse. She just took care of minor injuries there. They did have two fatalities out there when she was working there but she was at training seminars for the both of them. It wasn't like she could have done a whole hell of a lot in those instances. Those two men fell to their deaths from the really high tower. I don't think any job is worth your life.   nondisclosed_email@example.com (barefoot girl)Sat, 19 Nov 2011 10:16:46 +0000 Re: Had a strange and very creepy incident at home this evening.https://btrampsandtrampettesrefugepart2.runboard.com/p209311,from=rss#post209311https://btrampsandtrampettesrefugepart2.runboard.com/p209311,from=rss#post2093116 bedrooms!!!! :prty: nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kid Zero)Mon, 14 Nov 2011 13:03:15 +0000 Re: Had a strange and very creepy incident at home this evening.https://btrampsandtrampettesrefugepart2.runboard.com/p209292,from=rss#post209292https://btrampsandtrampettesrefugepart2.runboard.com/p209292,from=rss#post209292That's awful about your friend Paul, Di. Keith and I got along fantastically when he worked the day shift and I worked the afternoon shift. 'Course we were also newlyweds at the time as well. There is a price you have to pay when your spouse or significant other is not around very much due to work. And the price is not worth it. Keith came home from work yesterday and he was all choked up. He had been told that morning that, Paul, his work-mate and friend would not be coming back to work again. Ever. Paul was diagnosed with ALS. Lou Gehrigs Disease. I am devastated and heart-broken over the news. We have 'double-dated' with Paul and his wife. I cried when Keith told me the news. Keith told me to stop crying because he was going to start doing so himself if I did not cease with my sobbing. This is one of the things that really bothers me. Paul and Keith are both work-a-holics. Whenever Edison needed electricians to work over-time or to work extra days Keith and Paul were the first ones to sign up for it. I wonder if Paul regrets spending more time at work than he spent with is family. I told Keith that perhaps there was a lesson to be learned here. Don't work so damn much. I always thought ALS was an inherited disorder. I researched it tonight and only 1 in 10 cases are due to genetics. They think the rest of the cases are caused by environmental factors. I don't know what the hell is in that plant that keeps making employees very ill with cancers and other disorders. Maybe there is nothing in the plant itself and the illness's are due to Sarnia's posion spewing chemical plants across the river. I wish they would stop doing whatever it is that is making people ill. I still blame Sarnia's chemical valley for Frankie's cancer. It's such a God damn shame that Paul will have to suffer so much. It just makes me smile when he is on the floor playing with the dogs. Also, for the first time, it is very easy to shop for Keith for his birthday and Christmas. He is thrilled with any Springer Spaniel item. T- shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, decals and bumper stickers for his truck etc. You name it and they have it somewhere. Keith has not gotten so bad that he wants to dress up his dog but he does like having a 'wardrobe' of collars with matching leashes for his boy. Hersh has a training collar with a black leather leash, a "Bad to the Bone" set, another black and white set with pawprints printed on it. Hershey even has a Detroit Tigers collar and leash set. He likes to have a well dressed dog. I just ordered another set that has English Springer Spaniel images woven into the collar and leash. I ordered it in blue for Reece (she only has one set) and in red for Hershey. We plan to go back every spring because we are trying to figure out what area we would eventually like to move to. I realize, of course, that we could not afford to purchase either of these homes. Multi-million dollar properties are out of our reach. What I liked about both houses is that they are tastefully 'beachy' without the over the top 'tropical decor'. I'll worry about that next spring. I hope Zan does not have any more problems but I would still want to know what caused his pain to begin with. Not sure if I will be able to talk Keith into a trip to Ireland in 2012 like I had planned because I just booked an ocean front vacation house in North Carolina for 2 weeks in the spring. I did not get the vacation house I really fell in love with, http://www.rentabeach.com/1448440. One of the two couples that will be joining us for part of the time could only come when their son had a week off of school for spring break and that house was booked for one of the two weeks. It took me ages to find another house I liked. It's a very nice house but I don't love it as much as the first one. I'd love to rent the first house and host you, Jill and Ramona (plus spouses and children) for a week sometime in the future. Apparently you have to book the best houses far in advance. Damn Bravo TV sucks me in too much. nondisclosed_email@example.com (barefoot girl)Sun, 02 Oct 2011 12:21:16 +0000 Re: Had a strange and very creepy incident at home this evening.https://btrampsandtrampettesrefugepart2.runboard.com/p209044,from=rss#post209044https://btrampsandtrampettesrefugepart2.runboard.com/p209044,from=rss#post209044I´d like to add you.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kid Zero)Thu, 29 Sep 2011 13:12:20 +0000 Re: Had a strange and very creepy incident at home this evening.https://btrampsandtrampettesrefugepart2.runboard.com/p209043,from=rss#post209043https://btrampsandtrampettesrefugepart2.runboard.com/p209043,from=rss#post209043quote:Kid Zero wrote:  :p I got an archive full of thank you notes Do you have a spread-sheet to keep track of the thank you notes like the spread-sheet lordstan uses to catalogue his Springsteen boot-legs. You know you really should get rid of that now that you are married! nondisclosed_email@example.com (barefoot girl)Thu, 29 Sep 2011 11:01:44 +0000
