all the freebies and anchor babies aren't helping the situation either. i say if your parents aren't citizens then you shouldn't be either, even if you were born on these shores

but don t forget that all of you come from immigrants...

Legal immigration to Canada and the U.S. has a long and strong history and continues to this day. We don't have a "the boat is full" policy. Canada has the highest immigration rate per capita in the world (excluding a bunch of tiny countries like in the Caribbean) and Toronto is arguably the most ethnically mixed city in the world. Go to a Canadian or American embassy anywhere in the world and there are dozens if not hundreds of people lining up every day to get visas or to apply to immigrate. Yeah, it's a hassle, as even as the spouse of a Canadian citizen my wife had to go through 2 years of paperwork and interviews and fees. Those are the rules. But illegals? Get them out. There are plenty of people wanting to get in legally.

Of course, without all the Mexicans in California my sister wouldn't have a job. She teaches English as a second language. She'd much rather have a regular classroom, but there are no teaching jobs in California because the state is broke. Probably from paying all the benefits out to the illegals. A lot of her kids have relatives who are "chollos" or gang members. The kids are adorable. Although, she's had to tell some of the boys they are not allowed to flash gang signs at school. I visited her 1st grade classroom last September. All Mexican, most of them illegal. Crazy how that works. HOW does that work, really?

This is the good dialogue of a politics/news forum that I enjoy. emoticon

No one is bashing each other and people are saying what's on their minds. Good stuff, good dialogue.

chip, that is such a stupid thing to say or think

you cannot shoot people for wanting a better life. The wall in berlin has been torn down 20 years ago, people did get shot there, trying to get a better life.

I still say NEVER EVER AGAIN!

so, this military man, a sniper, did kill a presumed member of the taliban... that is a whole lot different then some poor mexican fellow wanting to have a better future for his kids

the Mexicans pouring across the border and sucking our resources dry are more of a threat to my country than the Taliban ever were. i guess a few well placed land mines would be helpful too. speaking of terrorists, there's another very good reason to secure the border
