7 nights in England

Well the Northwest (Preston) to be more specific.

My son Daniel will be here in a few nights. Just making sure he will get a taste of British Culture for his first visit to England.

Wednesday- A trip to the Ley Inn (Our local Pub)

Thursday- A visit with Kirk's parents and a meal at their local pub then Iron Maiden, Manchester Arena

Friday-Munchkin time, and a trip to the chippy, TV time-QI and Jonathan Ross

Saturday-Full English Breakfast, (no plans yet for the day) Saw Doctors/Pogues gig at Manchester Arena

Sunday-pick up the munchkins/get a Christmas tree/decorate it/meal at the pub.

Monday-(?)

Tuesday-(?)

Wednesday- The boy flies back to LA.

Anyway, he will need to have an indian curry, shepherds pie, fish & chips, cornish pasties, bangers & mash, sausage rolls, a proper sunday roast with yorkshire pudding, parkin, mince pies, shortbread, not to mention lots of lager but what other foods am I forgetting?

Also, He needs to watch Catherine Tate, Peter Kay, Billy Connelly, Father Ted, The Royal Family, But what else?

Any suggestions on food, British Television or a daytime excursion for the boy?

Surely Coronation Street's a British Institution that Daniel must experience? :) emoticon

I've never watched it myself, Jill! I'm always afraid that I might get hooked on British soaps!

I need to make sure he experiences British Music that he may not get over there too!

That was said tongue in cheek, Ramona! I am so glad you're getting to have your wee son stay with you...and I am sure you are so excited about his visit.
Is he staying with you for Christmas, or will he return on Dec 20 (as indicated in your thread title!!)?

Thanks Jill, I don't think I'll get excited till he lands on British soil. A lot can happen before then. Keep picturing him losing his passport, or missing his plane somehow! He'll only be here the 7 nights as originally planned. I was really wishing he could stay for Christmas, but this will help him have more time for his journey home, as he will be able to stop at my folks place another night before taking a 5 hour train ride back to Paso Robles.

Christ, is that what we're famous for now?

I actually don't have any suggestions, Ramona, sorry. :|

Although, Corrie and Eastenders are institutions that he has to see once.

As a north west gal myself Morecambe, just up the road), may I suggest a visit to Blackpool (Harry Ramsden's fish and chips are supposed to be about the best you can get)

Also, don't forget to make him watch Morecambe & Wise and Only Fools and Horses - both absolute classics of the British small screen.

And don't forget that great old British tradition at this time of the year - the Pantomime.

Hope he enjoys his first visit to our shores and that you have a great time with him while he's here

That's okay, David. Who knows, he might actually enjoy some British soaps! I know Kirk will be watching British and American football with him, so we can tick that off the list.
