Shotgun wedding. I can at least be grateful that they are going to get married at all. I am a bit old fashioned like that!

They are going to the courthouse and I am not invited!! They plan to have two witnesses and that is it.

I was invited to the celebration dinner afterwards but I can not go as it is a 3 hour drive and I have to work that day. Keith can't go either. We wouldn't be able to get there in time.

I'd have gone just to see Jessie's fiance's best friend, Mike, (met him in Ireland) again. I love him. Awesome eye candy but if I were going I know I would wind up picking up the tab for the dinner. I can look at my photo gallery of Michael for free.

Good to hear this weekend that Michael is free from the army now and there is no chance that he will be deployed to Afghanistan again.

Keith and I will be throwing a party/reception for them at our house in June. Jessie wants it to be casual and just wants a relaxed atmosphere with good food and friends. So I am going to throw a pool party and light a bunch of [email protected]#$ on fire (aka: bonfire).

I have a lot of sofas inside and outside of the house and people that have a distance to drive can just crap out on those or on the floor with sleeping bags. Michael can sleep in my bed with me. emoticon

I am getting more excited about the baby. Hoping for a girl but they don't want to know the sex. Jessie sent me pictures of her ultrasound and I think the name 'Skeletor' suits the baby the best at this point. No meat on it's bones.

Keith likes Jessie's fiance but is already worried about their marriage because 'they fought all weekend long'. I said, "Yep, I noticed that too. Jessie likes things done a certain way and Chance does not like to be told what to do." Keith then said "They reminded me of us." and I could not argue on that point with him.

I already discussed this with Jessie and she does know what she is getting into. For what it is worth I do like her fiance but he is so much like me with his personality traits and that is the bit that worries me!

Isn't she lovely?

Peapod doesn't want to have a damn thing to do with Jessie's pregnancy. She doesn't want to touch Jessie's belly or even look at it. I think Peapod is afraid that she will no longer be special.

She will always be special to me. I love that kid. Peapod and I stayed up long past everyone else. We took the dogs out for a late night walk.

I told Peapod that I look for Frankie's star every single night so that I can tell him I love him and miss him. Peapod said "There are not any stars out tonight. What do you do when there are not any stars out?" I told her "Then I just have to holler really loud. "I love you Frankie! I miss you!!" We were both standing in the middle of the road yelling those words to the sky. Nice to have company for that for a change.

Peapod told me "The only time I ever got mad at Frankie was when he was so excited to see me that he knocked me down and my head hit the wall." I said "Yes, I remember that. It was Halloween and you were dressed up like a pussy cat. Your pussy cat ears wobbled when your head hit the wall. I am sorry that I laughed at the time."

Peapod wanted me to put some music on her i-pod and we talked about rock'n'roll and then fell asleep watching Bruce vids on the TV in the living room.

Jessie's wedding sounds a bit like mine. We got married at the courthouse on a Wednesday night. Outdoor in the courtyard of the courthouse actually, with the sweet fumes wafting in from the Chemical Valley adding to the atmosphere (I told my bride to pretend it was incense). We had a huge wedding compared to Jessie's though - 5 witnesses plus the one-legged judge.

Congratulations to Jessie! It's funny, a friend and I were having a conversation about weddings, etc, today on Facebook and she's totally nasty about people spending a lot of people on weddings because she doesn't think it's very intimate, personal, blah blah blah. Each couple is different, why wouldn't each wedding be different?

I wish them luck, especially with their new baby. It will need lots of love, especially after it learns to add and finds out that humans gestate for 36 weeks, LOL.

Mike, your wedding sounds AWESOME. Any chance your one legged justice of the peace is still available?

At least the courthouse could not have been near the stinkiest spot in Chemical Valley. There is one spot south of Sarnia that has the most God awful stench that I have ever smelled. I think they are boiling turds and rotten eggs at that spot.

lord, am I correct in recalling that you took your bride to the Drawbridge Inn in Sarnia for your wedding night?

Super romantic place! I spent the night there once in the late '70's. It is not the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It's only #5 on my 'worst' list.

#4 belongs to some place in New Jersey (on the Bruce pilgrimage). #3 The hotel in Brighton where Joe and I got scalded by the shower and had an Amazonian transgendered person bust into our room one morning. #2 An expensive shithole in London that fried my laptop, my sleep machine and my nerves.

Top spot belongs to a Hampton Inn just off the highway in Bakersfield, CA. That place would have made a good setting for a horror film. Claustraphobic and dark. It was so bad that I had a panic attack. We got the hell out of there way before check-out time.

Ha, ha, Jo! We have a long tradition in my family. The women in my family are always knocked up when they get married! I doubt that my Busha was knocked up when she got married but my mother was, both of my sisters were and now Jessie is continuing the tradition.

I was the only one that wasn't knocked up when I got married at age 34. I did not have sex until I got married.

Everyone in Keith's family thought I was knocked up though. Keith and I had planned to get married at the courthouse and we just wanted a nice honeymoon. We had the honeymoon planned months in advance but when Keith's family found out that we were going to get married at the courthouse they pressured us into having a bit of a wedding.

I am surprised we caved into that pressure but we did. I had only a bit more than 2 weeks to organize a small wedding and get the invitations out. That is why everyone thought I was knocked up.

By the time I got married (and finally had sex) it turned out that I was 'barren'. My sister loves to call me 'barren' whenever she can fit it into the conversation.

It never bothered me that I was the only 'barren' one in an extremely fertile family. I was raising Jessie by then and that was enough for me.

I have friends that couldn't get pregnant and they went to extreme measures to try to get pregnant. A few of them let that one thing ruin their entire life. It's just biology and it doesn't make you any less of a woman or a person if you can not conceive.

When Peapod and I were chatting the other night she told me "My mom hates it when I come to stay with you." I said "Why? What does she say?" Peapod told me "She says A LOT and she never says anything good about you. She told me that you are crazy?" LOL, if you only knew my sister!

I asked Peapod "Well what do you think?". She said "You are crazy in a good way. My mom is crazy in a bad way. Being with you is always fun and being with my mom is never fun. And I know my mom is mostly mad because she is jealous."

Of course this is all coming from a viewpoint of a 10 year old. Peapod also told me that she 'hates' Detroit and I asked when she had ever been there. She told me "My class went to the Symphony there once. There were only about 2 classes there that where white. Everyone else was black." I asked her why that bothered her and she said "Black people are weird." I said "No, honey, they are just different from us; they are not weird."

'Weird' seems to be Peapod's favorite word right now. She kept insisting that Detroit was 'weird'. I gave up and just said "Well, Detroit has one of the most awesome baseball parks in the world." Peapod said "You like baseball, Aunt Di? That is just 'weird'".
