Re: ThE Austin Pit Crew ~ chapter 6

oh yeah ... on a good note.... emoticon
Jimmy is doing fairly well.... off all meds currently except for morphine, given bilingually... which I know works very well~ He actually did not only recognize friends this past week, but also just openly started talking about past events with details. emoticon
It was only sad to think about when some of the guys on the crew had not realized how sick he'd been.. were just kind of expecting him to be here at the shows... only to be hearing all of this news... listening to one of the guys.. I really think it was more denial that ignorance to it... but at least with the tour here in town, he has had more visitors.. so hopefully he has felt very uplifted by all that~
Will get another update in a few hours~

Bruce was apparently as excited as the crowd: "Ladies and gentlemen, I've had an erection lasting more than four hours — I should get to the emergency room. But first!..."

Report from a secondary market:

Long story short: Des Moines or Kansas City has turned into Des Moines and Kansas City.

Longer Story: Des Moines is in (just in) our 15-hour drive limit, so we said if we pull perfect tickets we'll go (not expecting to pull them). The show is paperless, and we get first section, second row on Stevie's side. Despite our 100% Clarence/Nils history, we take 'em and start looking for a babysitter suitable for teenagers.

We showed up early, expecting problems with paperless -- got in instantly, at 7:15. Our seats are 20 feet or so out from the protruding stage, but we notice after 15 minutes that nobody is in the seats directly next to the protruding stage. After some intramural discussion, with the REAL BOSS, we decide to keep those great seats warm until their legitimate owners arrive -- they never arrive, so we see the whole show from first row seats 6 feet away from the stage, with no one in front of us.

Funniest moment: this guy approaches us 30 minutes before show time with a wad of money in his hand asking "how much do you want for those great seats you have?" There were 8-10 of us trespassers, and we all got a good chuckle out of that.

Show highlights: Big Man played incredibly, and not "incredibly considering...," but "incredibly by any standard." He had gold nail polish, and the close-ups of his sax playing were stunning.

We had a close up view of Stevie during Bobby Jean, and he looked seriously uncomfortable (imagine listening to a male-friend to male-friend love song, in which you are the object, in front of thousands of people).

The kid singalong part of WOASD went drastically wrong -- the chosen kid completely froze up, and the backup kid froze up, and Bruce kept trying: "I'm waiting........, and then he held the mike up to the kid." Finally, one of the kids managed "I'm waiting for the sunny day."

Suzie wiped a tear from her eye during one on the lights-on songs at the end, where we're all grabbing visual memories. I didn't see a tear, but she did the tear-wiping move.

Incident into Rosie - enough said, if you're of my vintage.

We have had serious good luck with going for close lowers our last few shows, so we feel compelled to not go for the pit. It also makes our travel arrangements easier (do-able).

We're going to KC 10/26 - hope to see some of you there. Regardless, don't miss ANY chance to see our guys before this tour ends.

Bill & Theresa

PS - I gave Bruce an attaboy slap on his left shoulder as he passed in front of us for his "pit circuit." No chance for a high five, as he was moving very quickly.

Re: ThE Austin Pit Crew ~ chapter 6

Hello all!
Finally all caught up and a new chapter at that. :-)

I've been swimming in paperwork, busy with Homecoming, writing recommendations for seniors, feeling like my life is one great big science lab-if I'm not setting one up, I'm tearing it down. It's all good though. This traveling science lab from UNC will be at our school on Tues to do a spectrophotometer lab for my AP Bio class. Life really is good, just crazy busy.

PA for jimjudd and family.
Great news about Jimmy, Beth.
Loved the story about Bruce and beer. And the video. Thanks, Martin.
Hope you've found a good Saturn by now, Sherry.

How is school for Sandy?

PA to all in need. Happy Birthday to any I missed.
Hope all of you have an awesome weekend!

Oh!! I had a pretty neat thing happen to me this week...

Watch this! You might see someone you know!! :-)

I had another idea, more of a question really, and so my new friend has taken my new liner notes to get Bob to autograph them. I should get them back when the guys who I have been travelling with return home in a week.

Not quite in Beth's league but not bad!
