Truck accident blocks bridge between Sweden and Norway

Oslo - A truck with a trailer transporting sound equipment for American rock star Bruce Springsteen jack-knifed early Sunday on a bridge between Sweden and Norway, blocking lanes from Sweden, police said.
The driver of the British-registered truck was not injured but underwent a medical check-up, police told Norwegian media outlets.
The accident on the new Svinesund bridge that connects Sweden and Norway occurred in very slippery conditions, and blocked the lanes from Sweden for several hours. Motorists were later urged to be extra careful.
Although the trailer sustained some damage, the equipment was not damaged and Springsteen's planned concert in Oslo on Sunday evening was due to go ahead as planned.
The 700-metre-long single-arch road bridge over the Ide Fjord was opened in June 2005 in the presence of the Norwegian and Swedish royal families as part of commemorations marking the 100-year anniversary of the peaceful dissolvement of Norway's union with Sweden.
