School on full lockdown
One of the principals just came by to tell me my school is going on full lockdown. It seems a student was assaulted by his father at an extracurricular activity last night (it was practice for a choral performance, believe it or not) and there is some concern that the dad might come to school today when he gets out of jail to attack the boy again or to "kick some ass" in general amidst us effete educational types. I have the kid in my last class of the day, which would be the optimum time for the dad to try something. So here I am, ready for an ass kicking. Wish me luck!

School lockdowns are the best. I remember when we had lockdowns 3 days in a row due to bomb threats. They all were called in from the pay phones inside the school. It was awesome.

Good luck, CL! Did you see the video of the UCLA student getting tasered by cops because he didn't have his library card? It was pretty nasty, but I think you could do with those guys at school today.

I'm a little surprised the kid is in school today, after being assaulted by his dad. Hopefully, he won't make bail today and then they get a restraining order against him. Restraining orders are a joke though.
Poor kid. Good luck CL and to the rest of the school, till this passes.

There were never any lock downs when I was in school. The worst thing I can remember was someone getting pulled into the principles office for smoking in the bathroom and teachers trying to catch the students sneaking out of the assemblies.

We got to go home early in the 6th grade because a gunman was loose in the elementary school. It was the first year of busing in the Cleveland Public Schools. I wasn't scared. I go to go home early AND I loved riding the bus!
