Anybody like Marillion?
I have had "Misplaced Childhood" on vinyl since it was new and have recently gotten the urge to get into them more. Ordered that one on CD and the "Jester's Tear" CD, too. Anybody did this group?

Re: Anybody like Marillion?
Ah.."Misplaced Childhood"..that album takes me back to the summer of 85 when I fell in love for the first time! That and BITUSA were the soundtrack to that glorious era..
Is that the only release your familiar with from Marillion,Mike?
"Script For A Jesters Tear" which you have ordered is a tremendous album too..In fact all the ones featuring my fellow Scot Fish are worth checking out.."Fugazi" and "Clutching At Straws" being the others..
When Fish left to be replaced by Steve Hogarth I just didn't get the new vocalist at all..
What first attracted me to Marillion was the amazing artwork on the albums..and also the 12" singles.I still treasure every one they released during the Fish era..

Re: Anybody like Marillion?
Yeah Frankie, all I know about Marillion is "Childhood." When I worked at a record store before I became a teacher there were a couple of Marillion fanatics on the staff. They would travel all over the country to see them. They would play the post-Fish stuff in the store while we worked but I never paid much attention to it.

I'm sure you'll dig "Script For A Jesters Tear",Mike..If you do get "Fugazi" next..Fish wrote some wonderous lyrics on that one..
You've got me reminisceing for the summer of 85 now! "Lavender" reminds me so much of the lovely Siobhan..wonder what she's doing now?!

Lavender, thanks Frankie
Was trying to think what the song was that I loved from Marillion but my head was a blank,

I have been having dreams about a girl I was in love with in 1989-1990 lately. We did not end on good terms and these dreams bring up all those old distressing feelings. I had one last night and could not go back to sleep for about 30 minutes. Sorry, depressing, I know, but maybe it reflects the same sort of themes as Marillion on "Misplaced Childhood."

Was trying to think what the song was that I loved from Marillion but my head was a blank,
It's a lovely song isn't it,Kathy?
" I was walking in the park
Dreaming of a spark
When I heard the sprinklers whisper
Shimmer in the haze of summer lawns
Then I heard the children singing
They were running through the rainbows
They were singing a song for you
Well it seemed to be a song for you
The one I wanted to write for you"
Those lyrics are from the top of my head..I hope my memory is still good from over twenty years ago!
