Tour GA Policy
Care of Kasagogo:
As posted on RMAS by Ken Dash, August 19
One other interesting note. As I posted a couple of weeks ago, the General
Admission policy still has not been finalized. U2 based system was
in...than scrapped..now possibly in again. The interesting part is as
follows. Apparently, Bruce has received some feedback from his staff on
G.A. ideas from internet fan sites. Apparently, during discussions on
promoting the tour over the past few weeks, fan feedback from internet sites
has been mentioned.
SO, BRUCE: IF YOU ARE READING THIS --
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT USE THE U2 RANDOM SCAN SYSTEM!!! IF IT AIN'T BROKEN, DON'T FIX IT!!!!

Re: Tour GA Policy
For those of us who aren't familiar with it, is it a random picking of tickets for GA? Please explain.

Re: Tour GA Policy
Yes, determined by a code on your GA ticket.
U2's "pit" (otherwise known as the ellipse or the Bomb Shelter ) was set up a bit differently (center of arena with a walkway around):
and the GA tickets were all encoded with a special scan so that you had no idea if you would get inside the ellipse area until you arrived at the concert and your ticket was scanned at entry. If you got scanned inside, you could bring one other person in with you (so that couples didn't get split up).
Therefore, entirely random. but you have no way of deciding your own fate, so to speak, and it still doesn't eliminate GA lines because those that don't get scanned inside may still want the prime spots just behind the pit, so you'd still have to spend all day in line but you might not get anywhere near the stage. (did that make any sense? :bla: )

Re: Tour GA Policy
Yeah, when we were in Austin we had a scare where they told us there was a possibility that we might get the lottery for our GA tickets. We stood in line for 3 days worrying about it and finally found out before we went in that the numbers were honored. Like Sherry said, STRESSSSS!

we were thinkin of awl of you in awestin those days wondering what was gonna happen on the next stop~
I guess I will find a way to be content so long as we know what we are up against going into this~
--- Bruce was apparently as excited as the crowd: "Ladies and gentlemen, I've had an erection lasting more than four hours — I should get to the emergency room. But first!..."

The big difference with U2 is that because of the walkway, you could be outside of the pit/ellipse and still get a decent spot to see the band when they used the walkway (well mainly Bono & Edge). With Bruce's pit, you'll be behind everyone else and farther away. :(
I think the best GA/lottery system for Bruce was the one they used that summer for the stadium shows, when all the GA tickets meant you were in the pit and everything else on the floor was reserved. Since the GA guaranteed you inside the pit, there was less stressssssss....
