Mmmmmmm....I love all the ingredients that go into this soup, so maybe I'll try it! :)

I love zucchini soup too, but it's so hard to make and I almost get carpel tunnel from peeling the zucchini. I need an automatic peeler.

How many times a day do you eat the soup and for how many days do you go with the diet, to feel the benefits?

Re: CABBAGE SOUP DIET

If you open the link, this is the 7 day plan. I used the onion soup mix because it was all I had considering they don't sell i here! I just happened to buy some on my last trip to the US. You can use any flavor that you want, really. Oh, and on banana day IO make banana milshakes using frozen bananas and lowfat milk. Absolutely delicious. Especially with a dash of nutmeg!

Remember: This diet should only be followed for 7 days at a time, with at least two weeks in between.

Day One:
Fruit: Eat all of the fruit you want (except bananas). Eat only your soup and the fruit for the first day. For drinks- unsweetened teas, cranberry juice and water.

Day Two:
Vegetables: Eat until you are stuffed will all fresh, raw or cooked vegetables of your choice. Try to eat leafy green vegetables and stay away from dry beans, peas and corn. Eat all the vegetables you want along with your soup. At dinner, reward yourself with a big baked potato with butter. Do not eat fruit today.

Day Three:
Mix Days One and Two: Eat all the soup, fruits and vegetables you want. No Baked Potato.

Day Four:
Bananas and Skim Milk: Eat as many as eight bananas and drink as many glasses of skim milk as you would like on this day, along with your soup. This day is supposed to lessen your desire for sweets.

Day Five:
Beef And Tomatos: Ten to twenty ounces of beef and up to six fresh tomtoes. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water this day to wash the uric acid from your body. Eat your soup at least once this day. You may eat broiled or baked chicken instead of beef (but absolutely no skin-on chicken). If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef one one of the beef days (but not both).

Day Six:
Beef and Vegetables: Eat to your heart's content of beef and vegetables this day. You can even have 2 or 3 steaks if you like, with leafy green vegetables. No Baked Potato. Eat your soup at least once.

Day Seven:
Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices and vegetables: Again stuff, stuff, stuff yourself. Be sure to eat your soup at least once this day.
 :p

Re: CABBAGE SOUP DIET

Thanks Ramona, sorry I was feeling lazy and didn't open the link. Have just now printed it. I think I'll choose Tuesday to go on the diet, though I will have to have my bagel and cream cheese in the morning. I'll get to the grocery store to buy the ingredients on my way home from work. I need to fast anyway, for the upcoming week, so this will be a good start. Thanks.

Re: CABBAGE SOUP DIET

I'm glad you're joining me, Stephanie. It makes it easier to stick to the diet! I decided to cook it tonight in the slow cooker (crock pot). I also baked a banana cake to help cover up the smell. Kirk and the kids hate the smell of veg! I figured if I had some tonight with the banana cake, I could get used to the soup, have my cake and eat it too! All set to start day 1 tomorrow now & will have lost a few pounds by day 6 which is when I plan to be in Dublin for Bruce. I can have all the steak and veggies I want that day but the beer is going to officially kick me off the diet. I don't think I've ever made it past day 6 anyway! I love a good bagel & cream cheese. But try to stick to the diet & eats lots and lots of soup :p

It seems to me that the Atkins diet was really great for people that were uber overweight to lose weight quickly so that they could exercise without so much weight on their joints. It was also good for learning how to avoid things that are really bad for you, like processed sugars and starches and eat better, but by no means was that a good diet to maintain in the long run.

Ramona, that soup sounds really good, but I have to drink beer next Friday and Saturday (it's the last home football game for Purdue). Should I do it anyway?
