We all joined these boards because of our passion for all things Bruce - rock & roll and all that! Now it seems that the wild women of rock are turning into budding Ken Barlows and forming a book club.

How times change emoticon

Come back Bruce! Quick! Before they start swapping knitting patterns too emoticon

Just to be ever so slightly controversial, I sort of don't agree Kath.

As still a relative newcomer its taken me some time to get used to the lack of Bruce related content on (or should that be 'in' I never know???) Mary's Place, but I've come to love how its Bruce that binds us together, but then we can talk about and have loads of other connections in our 'real lives'. emoticon So although I get better and more frequent Bruce fixes from other sites, I'm still here most often. Does any of this make sense?

As for books, I currently have a couple on the go
- Mercator: The Man Who Mapped the Planet by Nicholas Crane; which is a lot heavier and more academic than I'd expected, but I'm ploughing through it and
- Long Way Down by Nick Hornby, mostly for when I'm travelling

and a few more on my waiting list
- Imperium by Robert Harris
- The Interpretation of Murder by Jed Rubenfeld
- Dark Star Safari by Paul Theroux
- And about 8 books about Bruce :p

Overall I'm a far better book buyer than reader emoticon

I really enjoyed the Fingersmith, actually gasped out loud at one point in the plot.
I think she is an incredibly talented writer. just bought Nightwatch but haven't started it yet. need to read library books first.

I'm fine Annie. Regarding books, to be honest I rarely read for pleasure as it's a bit like a busman's holiday for me. Plus I get frustrated when I see mistakes!! Sue's like you though - 2 to 3 books per week. I'll ask her for her Top Tips.

Jon...you wait till another tour is up then it will be buzzin with Bruce topics on here.
Re books and Bruce...I suspect if he hadnt started reading some of the books that have influenced his lyrics over the years we would have fewer great songs to listen to.
Every bruce fan should read The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck (and see the movie) xx

At the minute, I'm slowly working my way through Toyah Wilcox's Diary Of A Facelift.

It's a day by day account of everything she went through before, during and after surgery
