Re: ThE Austin Pit Crew ~ Chapter 7

we all have our 'calling'
I have found over the years that if someone gets into nursing just becuase they think it's a good job (pays well enough, or will always be there) they will quickly find it is not worth it and they leave~ If you get into nursing becuase it is your calling, you seem to put up with all the crazy stuff we have to do, no matter what~
I knew very young that this was my calling, and I'm very lucky to have known it way back then, and taken all teh right steps to get where I needed to be~ The amazign thing about nursing is.. even withing the prfession, there are even more specific callings... for me it has been the tiny babies emoticon
I know I could never survive a single day on a burn unit, or as a prison nurse
Yet, I think I'm lucky to not have to put up witha classroom full of kids for a whole school year, or stand on my feet in uncomfortable shoes working retail.

PA and PMA to your neighbor, Jo Hoepfully the high heart rate was a symptom of uncontrolled pain and they have her feeling much better soon! you need never feel guilty for having done all that you have done to help her!!

As for me..... I'm on my way out the door to do a baby transport... one little tike in our over-crowded unit is not ready to go home, but close enough that he can go to hospital closer to his mommy..... it's about a 2 hour ride~
happy Friday~

Bruce was apparently as excited as the crowd: "Ladies and gentlemen, I've had an erection lasting more than four hours — I should get to the emergency room. But first!..."

thanks emoticon

neighbour is back home.. She has an extra loop in the nerve knot that makes your heart beat... That loop sometimes causes your heart to go crazy.. The cardiologist showed her some methods to snap her heart back into normal beating. He will keep her under control though.. She is back home, feeling better and still her old fiesty self. She thinks her recent losses, partner, sister, sisters oldest daughter have made the problem worse, and i admire the fact that her cardiologist acknowledged that yes, that could be the reason, although not the cause.. Seems like doctors are also into a bit more then just science...

tuesday they will do the surgery on her arm, under local anestetic.. They will keep her for 2-4 days in the hospital, she said she aimed for 4 days lol.. They will tape her foot on wednesday, very convenient as she is already in the hospital then... I told her that if she keeps moving around as much as she does, i will have to tie her to the couch... She giggled, and said.. you are just as bad, i know when this would happen to you, you would not stay still also.. (darn she knows me waaay to well)

Today, horsies (been there already) and now of to ikea.. want to look for a new desk and wardrobe for sander.. only look, the little tyke has a taste of his own these days, but i hope we see something he likes..

jeroen is off with his divingbuddies, and said he has taken both creditcards emoticon he does not know of my secret stash emoticon

I'm with you Jo.
I can only think of a couple of people I would wanna see nekkid.
Bruce... George... Patrick...

I'll tell you a story:
Back when my grandparents were still alive, and before they went to the assisted living, Sandy was a baby so I only worked part time.
My grandfather couldn't drive (safely) anymore, so he would ask me to take him to doctors appointments.
He had an enlarged prostate, so had to have a catheda put in. I was caWled into the exam room and given instructions by "example" on how to remove the catheda emoticon emoticon should it become necessary to remove it (on the weekend, on think).
Let's just say that was a sight only death or alzhiemers will erase from my brain.
Once over the initail shock emoticon of seeing this, aWl I could think of was my poor almost 90 y.o. Grandpa. How embarrassing him for him to have his grandaughter staring at his jewels while receiving a lesson in removal. emoticon emoticon

Good morning! emoticon
Glad your neighbor is doing some better, Jo. PA!!
Thinking about you, Tree. Also sending PA!

It's been a pretty good last few days...Thurdsay night we had our first Women of Grace (church women's group) meeting here...we had 7 total ladies! That may not sound like a lot, but we were down to 2 when we decided to start having in here. We are reading/discussing Max Lucado's book "Fearless" on turning fears into faith. A great discussion on Chapter 1. Unreal time. Then yday at school, our APBio enzyme lab actually showed some great observable results (not always the case!). Last night I went with my good friend and our daughters to a Nicholas Sparks book signing in Cary. Very nice. Very nice!
Today: get regrouped! re-domesticate this house!! haha Stayed up way too late on Thurs night-decided after the women left to re-do my whole cell unit-didn't like the way I was doing it. It worked REALLY well yday.

Liked the conversation here abt our "callings"....I definitely love my job. If you subtract out the bad year (when my mom was soo sick and I had that bizarre mix), I can honestly say I have never not wanted to go to work more than 5-10 days in all my years and that's been because I was tired, just plain lazy, not because of the job. I get to meet new people yearly, form positive relationships, teach them new and wonderful things, observe them mature, create new things to use in my classroom...so exciting! Of course, grading papers is a drag, but one can't have everything. I definitely think I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing.

Also, I still think Kasa should write a book. So much wisdom in that awesome lady. Such a wonderful way with words. Carrie could do the artwork and the profit could be split by the APC. J/K

Love you all! Happy Saturday!

In QuEensboro news:

Sandy has mono. She's missed 6 days of school so far and wasn't until an actual blood test they determined it was mono.
I'm trying to get last week's and this coming week's work sent home. Let's just say that I am not overly impressed with her guidance counselor (even tho her name is Carrie).

Of course there was an increase in health insurance that Tec Tran passed on to the employees, and there is a court order that MWNB is responsible for health coverage, but he did not include any thing for that in his monthly check EVEN THOUGH there were various letters (with a statement from TT) back & forth.
I have a funny feeling I know who handled the correspondence...
Considering the "man" has only seen his daughter for 3 hours in the last 14 months - and that is only because I was in NJ for the wedding - he wants me to drive her to and from RDU should he ever get his !@#$ together to fly her up, AND he has a 90+ father that is not in good health, you would think he wouldn't want to piss me off.
If anybody can think of a way to post this info in more acceptable way since his sister is a FB friend of mine, please help. emoticon

At work, I get 15 days vacation because I've been there over five years. emoticon I've use 6, and must use the other 9 by 12/31. I always hold 1-2 till the end in case of illness. Yesterday I submitted a request to take off 4 Mondays and 1 Friday, some based on Sandy's school schedule put mostly based on hopefully cooler weather to work in the yard (the only vacation I can afford).
Would you believe I get an email back from Adam saying "It is not preferential for vacation to be broken up like that. Is there a reason?"
I wrote back and said "Yes. Nobody else does my job so this would allow me to try and keep up."
He wrote back that he will discuss it with Connie next week (she's on vacation till 23rd).
I checked the Employee Manual we were just given about a year ago. It says that vacation should be taken in 8 hour blocks. (interesting since SS#2 has taken 1/2 day vacations)
This pisses me off so much. What is the big friggin deal? When I was a bank teller you had to take vacation in week increments because that would allow embezzling to be caught. The CPA firm doesn't even do an annual audit, the do an Accounting Review.
For the most part, I'm lucky if somebody even opens my mail. Connie has written some checks in the past, but has NEVER posted invoices on our customers website. The procedure for posting invoices to the computer has changed, so she's never done that.
The real kicker is that I am still correcting the same mistake that Connie makes everytime she invoices, and I'm still catching the same misposting mistake that Sue has been making for 2 years. When I've pointed it out to Adam, he says that's because I don't explain it to them clearly, emoticon
When I return from vacation, they expect me to jump right back on schedule with deadlines and no allowance for 'catchup'. They also expect me to stay after (unpaid) if necessary.
Those days are over.

And he walks on a crooked crutch...

Rainy day now, but I had a nice long walk this morning before it started. The walk began with me seeing two deer walking down the sidewalk! I live close to a creek and wooded area and there are definitely deer there, but they don't usually walk on the sidewalk (at least not when we're looking). : )

I know it will only make people drool, but I have to say it. I feel like celebrating autumn by making pumpkin squares today.
