Bfg, I have come to enjoy reading your posts in recent months, from hearing about Frankie, to the loons you deal with in your work, but is there any way you can condense your posts some?

You write very well, you speak to us as if we are in the same room as you, I like that. I think many of us enjoy your writings and I don't mean any ill feelings towards you at all, but, after the 15th paragraph, I think you lose your audience.

Kind Regards. emoticon

I think it's annoyingly obvious why he chose her. McCain's research team went to the think-tank and came up with a strong-minded, bulldog of a woman who Hillary supporters will flock to. emoticon

Lisa, I'm not so sure that Hillary's supporters will flock to the McCain/Palin ticket simply because of Palin's gender. To begin with, the two women differ widely on issues, the people who supported Hillary, supported her views on certain issues and I don't think they will throw their support to Palin, just because she's a woman.

Kitty, the post I made on this thread were not my words. It was an article I copied and pasted.

Now, I do know that brevity is not one of my attributes! Sometimes I write because I am bored and sometimes I do it to unwind from a stressful day. If a few people enjoy my posts, great. I don't expect most people to even read them.

I think it's a bit more complicated than that. McCain doesn't expect to get any of Hillary's hard-core supporters out of this, most of them are staunch feminists. Instead, this a) surprise choice quickly wiped Obama's critical and generally well-received speech from the night before off the front pages; b) most importantly energizes his base thanks to her rock-solid conservatism; c) is intended to reinforce his own reputation as a maverick; and d) brings some youthfulness and sense of 'change' into his campaign to appeal to swing voters, while highlighting the rather thin experience of the candidate at the top of the Democratic ticket.

I think on balance it was a politically risky but smart choice by McCain. But it's a race between Obama vs. McCain. I think Biden and Palin will be secondary, even minor, factors the rest of the way except now and then like for the VP debates.

Yeah, it does sound kinduv Bill and Hillary-ish, but I can't see the Republicans having much problem with it, or the majority of Dems either. It's got no legs, it has to be the most boring, minor "scandal" I've ever heard of. The weakness to exploit is her lack of experience combined with McCain's age.

Quite sure you knew I was referring to the Valerie Plame incident and others like it, lord.

You can call the 'scandal' boring or 'minor' but if the allegations are true (and that hasn't been proven yet) then it was an abuse of power for personal reasons. That is corruption and that stinks on any level.

And of course you are correct. Her lack of experience combined with McCain's age is the point that will be hammered home again and again and rightly so.

I realized I did the same Bfg, copying and pasting an article here on this thread.

I do believe you and Karen (1985) have a good knack for writing. Whimsical and witty gals, you are. You two should team up and write a book. emoticon

LS, I am curious how the people in Vancouver are taking this news of Palin being selected as McCain's VP running mate. I know it's still early, but what have you heard how people feel about this where you are?
