I´ve seen Palin´s video. One set phrase on the dead and then Palin Palin Palin. As if she was the victim.
I said it elsewhere: If the republicans will make her candidate, they are plain stupid. If she gets elected, then help us god.

I also found her response very offensive. And then she went and used the term "blood libel" which is very offensive to Jews. That tells me that she and the people her write for her are either ignorant or mean, and neither has a place in the characteristics of a true leader in my opinion.

Here is some nice food for thought on civility.

No civility any more? Oh, do shut up.

What an asshole that writer is.

Re: It's Palin!

A few weeks back a colleague came into the drinks area of our office and said "People these days have no respect for each other". I instinctively replied "Oh Dave, do piss off". I thought for one moment he was about to knock my block off, but fortunately he then collapsed laughing. Don't try such comments at home though. LOL.

I thought it was a great article. To be honest, I'd never really noticed the "civil" in civility before. If you had asked me for a definition of civil, I would have probably said it means being polite. Perhaps I would have mentioned showing respect for others too, but I wouldn't have answered in the context of being part of a wider society. So thanks for posting and making me think!

There must of course be civility amongst the Bruce community (joking aside), as nobody wins unless everybody wins. Having that need to connect to others chimes with a lot of that article.

It will be interesting to see if the internet leads to greater civility. Being easily available to connect to people worldwide and from a whole range of backgrounds should lead to a greater tolerance for some, although for others I guess it leads to more instant gratification and even less reason to worry about others.

Ian, I wish I could say I have greater tolerance for Briisht humour from knowing you, but I'm honest.

I'm glad you liked the article, though!

Don't write all British humour off as Maccbruce humour.

BTW, "Do piss off" doesn't sound too offensive. I think it's the "Do". : P
