Re: Euro Septic and Teabag Friends around the World

Thanks all....your support is much appreciated.

My two cousins are staying at the Nursing Home, even though they have been told there's not much they can do.Obviously they want to be there, no matter what the staff at the home tell them.
The doc was out with my uncle yesterday and he said his heart is really strong and his blood sugar levels (which had fallen - he's diabetic) were normal. On the minus side, when he shone his light into my uncle's eyes there was no reaction. It was also established that as well as the loss of speech he has also lost his swallow.
The doc said he could go 'one way or the other' - what a statement!
Last night when we spoke to my cousin she said he was breathing 'funny'. Hopefully he will stay with us for a while longer.

Re: Euro Septic and Teabag Friends around the World

Just read this Jill. I am so sorry. really hopes he pulls through this again. Of course they want to stay with him. Mum was never left on her own for the week she was very sick. And at times was able to let us know she knew that. I must say the home were wonderfull about it. Bringing us in more comfortable chairs and bringing us tea coffee and even christmas cake and mince pies.

Your family has so much on their plate at the moment I really really hope there is some improvement over the next few days. }hg{

He's a wee bit better, thanks Karen, although we know that the inevitable will happen sometime soon.
Despite the doc saying he had lost his speech, he is talking a teeny bit, but it's barely audible. One of our practice docs suggested to my cousin yesterday that he could go into hospital, but I'm not sure if that's a goer. Mum said something about a tube having to be being up his nose, but to be honest I was only half listening as she rang and I had fallen asleep on the settee, so was slightly drowsy.

Re: Euro Septic and Teabag Friends around the World

Its a fine line between the home or the hospital. I know we were offered for Mum to go to the hospital but there was very little they could do for her and the home was so nice and comfortable and we were able to stay with her 24 hrs a day in her own room instead of visiting hours in a ward with 5 other people.

I think when all hope for a full recovery goes then making sure that they are comfortable and in no pain is the most important thing.

I just hope his family has the strength for all this after everything that they have been through. emoticon

Yes, you're right Kathy. Moving him in my opinion, wouldn't be a positive thing.
Tomorrow will be a very difficult day for them all, but they know my uncle hasn't got a lot of time left, (even though we keep trying to be positive telling them he could last for months) and are talking about funeral arrangements etc. They know they have to face reality. And to be honest, although it will be hard for them when he does go, I truly don't think that it will be as hard on them as Jonny's death was.
I hope that has come across the way I mean it to.

Anyway, the new positive me is going to play with the dvd recorder and then start cleaning for the party here tonight.

PMA for everyone, Jill.

This thread is kind of due to be archived but it does not seem like a sensible moment to do it. Perhaps it won't be too long before we have European Tour Dates and we could start a new thread then. What do you reckon?
